Plagiarism vs. Paraphrasing

This is an article about a respected journalist accused of plagiarism. The fascinating thing about this article is that the accused journalist, Fareed Zakaria, does what many students your age do when they try to change a few words here and there and pass it off as their own.

After reading this article, do you think changing a few words is good enough? When you paraphrase information to your notes, you should write it not only using different word choice, but also different sentence structure. That way, when you go to write your paper and craft your notes into sentences and paragraphs, you will not be influenced by the voice of the original author. Of course, you will still cite the original source.
